Work began on a 9,000-person shoe factory

Recently, Taiwanese shoe manufacturer PT Home Well Indonesia announced that it will build a new shoe factory in the Ketagati International Industrial Zone (KIEM) in Majarangka County, Indonesia, to produce footwear products for well-known global brands.

On August 23, PT Dwipapuri Abadi, the manager of the KIEM industrial Zone, handed over a symbolic 9.4 hectares of land for the company to build a new foundry.

Tony Sukadil, Director of KIEM Industrial Zone, and Chiang Meng Wei, director of PT Home Well Indonesia, signed a memorandum of understanding on the transfer of land to mark the official launch of the project.

The new plant is scheduled to begin construction next month and is expected to be operational next year, with an annual production capacity of 10 million pairs of shoes, mainly for export markets.

It is worth noting that the factory will absorb about 8,000 to 9,000 employees after completion, creating a large number of local jobs. PT Home Well Indonesia already has a production base in Vietnam, and this investment and expansion in Indonesia further consolidates its production presence in Southeast Asia.
